Tecnobrega

As part of my work for the Convergence Culture Consortium, I went to the city of BelĂ©m (north of Brazil) to conduct ethnographic interviews with fans of Tecnobrega (“chessy” techno) music. I wrote my research around the idea of audiences as a site of value beyond their act of consumption. This led to concepts of symbolic capital, collaboration and innovation. It was a fun ride.
